This 125-page book is divided into six logical and easy to use chapters: Chapter 1: Introduction: Basic information about the UN System and Model UN; Chapter 2: How to Prepare: How to research, write topic papers, prepare as a group and list of resources; Chapter 3: Rules of Procedure: A full description of all the rules of procedure and their usage; Chapter 4: The Conference: Choosing a conference, what to expect at the conference, conference structures; Chapter 5: The Committee: Debating, delivering speeches, how to use the rules to your advantage, and working with other delegates; Chapter 6: Resolutions: How to write better resolutions, including a list of preambulatory and operative clauses and sample resolutions.
Additionally, a glossary with tens of UN and MUN-related terms and abbreviations will help you with preparation as well as at the conference.
A bonus appendix gives you the list of all member nations of the UN with admission dates and bloc membership information.
About the AuthorKerem Turunç is a graduate of Yale University, where he was Secretary-General of the Yale Model United Nations, the largest on-campus Model UN conference for high school students in North America. He also chaired committees at the Security Council Simulation at Yale, Yale’s collegiate Model UN conference, and served as Vice-President of both conferences’ parent organization, the Yale International Relations Association, Inc. As a member of the prestigious Model United Nations Team at Yale, he won best-delegate awards at national conferences. Prior to Yale, he co-founded and headed his high school Model United Nations team. Kerem Turunç brings his experience and expertise from both sides of the dais to this book.
